Online Course: Introduction to WebCT

This short online class will introduce faculty, staff and students to the WebCT online courseware system. Users will learn about the overall structure of WebCT, how courses are created and managed, and how students are enrolled in courses. This class is a prerequisite for the CIT WebCT Design classes. This online class is available to users whose GALEN accounts can access WebCT (i.e., UCSF faculty, staff and students).

What you will need:
  • Computer connected to the Internet
If you're reading this page, then you've got this one covered.
  • Audio capability on your computer
You should have speakers or headphones so you can listen to the online presentation in the course.
  • WebCT-supported browser
You need a full-featured web browser, such as Internet Explorer 6/7 or Netscape 7.1, to use WebCT. Check WebCT Supported Browsers and Settings for the list of browsers and a browser test page that will tell you if the browser you are using will work.
  • Flash Player
The online presentation in the course requires Adobe Flash Player to play.
  • GALEN Account
You need a GALEN account to log into WebCT. The GALEN accounts for UCSF faculty, staff and students are able to access WebCT. If you already have a GALEN account, then you are set. If you do not have a GALEN account, check How to Log into WebCT for information on how to create one.
