Luna Insight -- Managing Image Collections
Laine Farley, M.L.S.
Director, Digital Library Services, California Digital Library

Laine Farley from the California Digital Library (CDL) gave a short presentation and demonstration of the Luna Insight image management system. The University of California, through the CDL, has licensed Luna Insight to deliver several images databases for the fine art and museum community within UC. As was said during the presentation, it would not be difficult to imagine using Luna Insight (or a similar system) to deliver high-quality health sciences images for use in health sciences education. Luna Insight and the databases available through it are freely available to all UC faculty, staff and students. You can use the following link to access the web version and/or to download the Windows or Macintosh client. It is a link to a web page that describes the AMICO Library, one of the image collections now available through Luna Insight.

Again, please keep in mind that, at the present time, there are no health sciences image collections available through the Luna Insight system. We hope the presentation at the CIT Summer Forum sparked your interest and curiosity about what might be possible in the future with image management and presentation systems like this for health sciences education.
