WebDAV stands for "Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning". WebDAV is also sometimes referred to as DAV. DAV allows users to edit and manage files on remote web servers with drag and drop simplicity.

The WebCT interface currently allows only one file to be uploaded or downloaded at a time (unless one takes the extra steps involved in combining several files into one zip file). If you are just transferring one or two files, it's easy enough to use the WebCT interface, but if you need to transfer many files, the WebCT interface can feel awkward.

WebDAV In contrast, WebDAV provides users with an easier and faster way to upload or download multiple files, including folders of files, without having to resort to zip files. However, connecting to WebDAV for the first time requires some setup.

For you to start using WebDAV with WebCT, you need to know a special piece of information: the WebDAV URL for your course.
